EDU-FLIX is a free online streaming platform operated in Kenya. We provide access to movies and TV series for entertainment purposes. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at admin@eduflix.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide our service:

We do not collect payment information, phone numbers, physical addresses, IP addresses, device identifiers, or browsing behaviour. We do not use any third-party analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Create and manage your account
• Allow you to log in securely
• Send you a welcome email when you join
• Send password reset emails when requested
• Notify you of important service updates, maintenance windows, or policy changes

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Emails We Send You

You may receive the following emails from us:

• Welcome email — sent once when you create your account
• Password reset email — only when you request it
• Service updates — new features, content additions, or improvements
• Maintenance notices — planned downtime or service interruptions
• Policy notices — updates to our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy

We do not send promotional or advertising emails. Every service email we send includes an unsubscribe option. You can also contact us to be removed from our mailing list at any time.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

EDU-FLIX uses your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to store:

• Your authentication token (to keep you logged in)
• Your watch progress per title
• Your liked titles and saved list
• Your display preferences (e.g. settings)

This data stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data or logging out.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies.

6. Third-Party Video Sources

Some videos on EDU-FLIX are streamed from third-party platforms (e.g. YouTube, Archive.org, or other embed providers). When you play a video from these sources, you are subject to their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing:

EDU-FLIX has no control over data collected by third-party video providers.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information:

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage — we cannot read them
• All connections to our platform use HTTPS encryption
• Authentication uses secure JWT tokens with expiry
• Our database is hosted on a secure cloud provider with access controls

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your EDU-FLIX account.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account information (name, email, hashed password) for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days.

Watch progress, liked titles, and saved lists are stored only in your browser and are automatically deleted when you clear your browser data.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and personal data
• Unsubscribe — opt out of service emails at any time
• Portability — request your data in a readable format

10. Children's Privacy

EDU-FLIX is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of EDU-FLIX after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Kenya, including the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Kenyan courts.
